Today the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) posted to their website updated technical standards for disc golf discs and catching targets. These standards are guidelines for all manufacturers seeking PDGA approval of their equipment.

CBS News 4’s Stacey Donaldson produced a Great State video segment where she met with Birdie Disc Golf President John Bird to learn disc golf.
In the 3-minute piece, Donaldson visits Johnny Roberts Memorial Disc Golf Course in Arvada and, with instruction from Bird, takes a few throws at the chains.
Sharon Sullivan of the Grand Junction Free Press covered the 2007 Grand Valley Finale Disc Golf Tournament held October 2007 in Palisade, CO and included John Bird’s comments about the course and it’s impact on western Colorado disc golf.
The 2007 PDGA Election Results (PDF) were announced today and John Bird was elected PDGA State Coordinator for Colorado. As coordinator, Bird will work with PDGA tournament directors on event administration and serve as liason to the PDGA.
John Bird is tournament director for the biggest disc golf event in Colorado for 2007, the 5th Annual High Plains Challenge in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Disc golfers from around the country will converge at the Optimist Disc Golf Course to compete for an invitation to disc golf’s premier annual event, the United States Disc Golf Championship held in Rock Hill, SC on the famed Winthrop Gold Disc Golf Course. Over 180 players from 15 states are slated to attend the two-day event which Bird has directed for the past three years.
John Bird was interviewed by Denver NBC affiliate KUSA Channel 9’s Greg Moss for a business segment about the 50th Anniversary of the Frisbee.

Negotiations between Big Sky Brewing of Missoula, MT and Mile High Disc Golf Club (MHDGC) of Arvada, CO were finalized by John Bird, MHDGC president, whereby Big Sky will act as a seasonal sponsor for the 2007 event season. A combination of cash and merchandise will be divided amongst all club events in 2007.

Microtel named John Bird their Disc Golfer of the Week for the week of April 2, 2007. Bird was recognized for his efforts as PDGA State Coordinator in Colorado, for many years of fundraising for Food Bank of the Rockies and Arvada Food Bank and as advocate and steward to the sport in Colorado for many years.
On behalf of Mile High Disc Golf Club of Colorado, club president John Bird presented fund raising checks with a combined total of $6397 to Kathy Underhill of Arvada Food Bank and Gordon Reusink, Director of Arvada Parks, Golf and Hospitality following the 2007 Ice Bowl at Bird’s Nest and Winter Warrior fund raising events. Bird has acted as the Mile High Ice Bowl event director for the past 4 years.
The goal of the Ice Bowl event is to raise funds for local food banks and community organizations.

The Jefferson County Colorado newspaper, Mile High Newspapers, published an article featuring the Johnny Roberts Memorial Disc Golf Tournament and interviewed Mile High Disc Golf Club President and Tournament Director John Bird about the history of the event.
On February 25, John Bird, together with fellow Colorado and Mile High Disc Golf Club pro golfers Randy Lahm, John Schiller, Jay Burghardt, Scott Holter and Jeff Panis hosted a free disc golf clinic at Aurora’s new Expo Park Disc Golf Course.
Participants were given a brief history of disc golf and it’s growth in Colorado. Then, each pro covered a specific throw—putting, upshots, long drives, rollers, specialty shots—before breaking out into groups to play a round of golf.
